INTRODUCTION OF JOURNALISM

  INTRODUCTION OF JOURNALISM

The definition of Journalism is that "With the help of proof or evidence the distribution of news with facts and figures to the people is known as journalism".

Journalism is the more recent phenomenon across world. Since when people recognized that one source is required to share information about themselves with others, Journalism comes from that time.

It plays a vital role in forming identities as a citizens. As we talk about journalism and other non-fiction writing then there is difference between both of them. The main difference between both of them is the idea of objectivity. While write and report their stories, research event , interview sources, courage report of event or incident the most important thing to learn for journalist is that to keep objective mindset at all times.

Why Tell the Truth?

It is important for journalists to tell the truth because the public depends on them. The public depends on journalists everyday for information going on in their town as well as their country. If the public can't trust journalists to give them true news information, then who can they trust? It is the duty of journalists to take the time to gather true information before they report on a story. Once journalists start reporting on things that are not true, their credibility is lost.

DANGER OF FAKE NEWS

Social Conflict

Fake news—news articles that are intentionally and verifiably false designed to manipulate people’s perceptions of reality—has been used to influence politics and promote advertising. But it has also become a method to stir up and intensify social conflict. Stories that are untrue and that intentionally mislead readers have caused growing mistrust among American people. In some cases, this mistrust results in incivility, protest over imaginary events, or violence. This unravels the fabric of American life, turning neighbor against neighbor. Why would anyone do this? People, organizations, and governments—foreign governments and even our own—use fake news for two different reasons. First, they intensify social conflict to undermine people’s faith in the democratic process and people’s ability to work together [1]. Second, they distract people from important issues so that these issues remain unresolved. This section explores how fake news is used for distraction and intensifying conflict

As we talk about the concept of accurate role of journalism then it may vary according to the country. In some countries news media are not independent, they might be work under government orders but on the other hand some countries have independent news media, they not have not much restrictions.
